Founded in September, 2003, the Pink Ribbon Fund is an all-volunteer not-for-profit organization. We pay no rent, or other operating expenses. (For example, our 601-450-PINK phone line was cheerfully donated by Megagate.) All office supplies, printing, and other services are either donated or sponsored. Thus, 100% of all donations will provide financial assistance for Pine Belt breast cancer patients. (See Service Area for list of counties we serve).
The money to enable our mission comes from donors, event sponsors, and our annual Gala called "PINK!", a cocktail party, dance, and major raffle event. Several other fund raisers are held by various groups, including three golf tournaments, hosted by: 1) the Canebrake Ladies Golf Association: 2) the Shadow Ridge Ladies Golf Association, and 3) Mac Grubbs Annual Golf Tournament in Collins. Two other very unique events held for Pink Ribbon Fund are the Hub City West "I Tackled The Twister For The Twins" Mechanical Bull Ride, and "Thrill the World ~ Hattiesburg." (See dates and Details in our "EVENTS" listings.)
Fund distribution is handled by the 7-member Grant Committee, which meets on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of each month. Patients mail their applications, with their bills to:
6068 US Hwy 98 West # 1305
Hattiesburg, MS 39402
(This mailbox was donated to P.R.F. by theUPS Store)
Applications are convniently located at many Pine Belt doctors’ offices, such as oncologist’s offices, and at the FGH Cancer Center. Each application must be signed by a physician. It also includes a HIPAA waiver, so the committee can verify information. The Grant Committee operates by a strict set of Guidelines, to ensure that all patients are treated equitably.
The Pink Ribbon Fund exists to compassionately assist Pine Belt breast cancer patients with financial support for their diagnosis and treatment, as well as quality of life issues resulting from their illness.
